Magical Side-Effects of Dyeus Phater
Replace one or more Dyeus Phater words with the cleric's emphasis. Roll d12.
1. Dyeus Phater and no other: Following a god besides Dyeus Phater is no option. Unless the recipient specifically worships him and at least respects the cleric’s emphasis, no magic will occur if the spell would be beneficial. If not, then it should work very well.
2. Dyeus Phater of the Gods: It is now required that the recipient follow a Proto-Indo-European god or goddess. Only those who hold Dehghom, Perkwunos, Hewsos, or the like sacred can receive any beneficial magic, just as a true devotee of Dyeus Phater will.
3. A Dyeus Phater Offering: The target of the spell (if beneficial) or the cleric (if not) must vow to make a sacrifice that corresponds with the cleric’s emphasis at a Temple of Dyeus Phater by the next dawn in order for the spell to happen.
4. Convert to Dyeus Phater: Though maybe one who doesn't put Dyeus Phater first before, the spell’s target must either become loyal now, pay homage to the cleric’s emphasis, or receive no magical benefit. If the spell is harmful, then those who decide to follow him are unaffected.
5. Kneel to Dyeus Phater: All within 120’ have a 25% chance of having to save vs. spell/ make a Will save DC 15 or act according to the cleric’s emphasis for the next 1d3 rounds. They might try kneeling anyway, or else earn divine retribution instead.
6-8. Standard Casting: The magic works without side-effect. The cleric’s emphasis might be illuminated in some way too (a 33% chance).
9. Dyeus Phater! It is time to spread one's patriarchal seed. The cleric must do so in a way that reflects his emphasis within 1d6 hours and thus get a 50% boost to the spell’s effect, range, or duration.
10. Dyeus Phater High: And now the cleric must endeavor to move up in the world. If it would help to increase his emphasis, then the spell will be improved by 50% with regards to its effect, range, or duration.
11. Journeys of Dyeus Phater: The spell works normally. What is more, if used to aid a heroic task that involves the cleric’s emphasis, then its effect, range, or duration can be doubled. Assisting those who fight monsters and engage in quests and the like would be fitting.
12. Blessing of Dyeus Phater: Thanks to the Sky Father, the magic works for double the effect, range, or duration, along with not being expended so it can be cast again that day. Even more, if it’s meant to help the target, he allows them to detect the cleric’s emphasis within 60’. He also grants a +2 bonus to all rolls if they follow that emphasis for the next 1d2 hours.
