Spells of Hewsos
The Dawn Goddess bestows magic in her ways and with those who correspond with them. Each can be cast up to once per day, returned at each dawning. Still, being Proto Indo-European, her priestesses cannot cast the same spell more than once during that time unless under special circumstances (per Emphasis Spells, see further below).
1st Level: Cure Light Wounds, Detect Evil, Detect Magic, Light, Protection from Evil, Resist Cold, Remove Fear, Sanctuary (in pretty areas), Faerie Fire (D), Allure*, Charm Person*, Shield*
2nd Level: Augury, Bless, Delay Poison, Holy Chant, Reveal Charm, Pass without Trace (D)
Emphasis Spells
With magic renewed daily like her father's, Dyeus Phater, Hewsos can allow her priestesses access to different spells and even cast them more than once during the same day. In return for surrendering other spells of equivalent level, she may pick ones that align with her emphasis from the list below and use them as many times as her other spells would allow. Still, she must do so in a specific manner from now on as well. And if the spell is already on Hewsos's main list, then the emphasis spell can replace that one instead.
For example, if a priestess of Hewsos has an emphasis of Bringing Light, she might choose to replace four of her general Hewsos spells with her emphasis ones of the same levels. She could then cast Light and Remove Fear more than once per day, but then need to do so by pointing out a detail first, even if she only cast it once, just like her other emphasis spells.
- Wrdhos (Rose): Notable for her rose-colored hair and adornment, she emphasizes Fertile Love & Dancing, with a personal potency augmented by her fully curvaceous form and sophisticated, sensual ways. Still, she can be quite an elitist and judgmental, and is rumored to in fact be switched (via Yemo). In any case, Wrdhos is certainly prone to excesses of ruthlessness and lasciviousness, though also quite compelling, along with her notably effortless sophistication and grace. She may have some witch abilities as well, however it is unclear if they or her special fecundity are thanks to Hewsos's mysteries, and if allowed by her necklace or by wine. Others say she wields a staff, which may be hard to find, hinting that it might be mergeable with her body, or simply be a metaphor for her various servants.
- Bhleh (Blondie): Reflecting the Dawn Itself & Being Dutiful, with pale light hair of her own, she's in a position of high authority, well-connected, articulate, and quite fetching, but is unwilling to act and be forthright, seemingly not having the stomach to defeat evil-doers. She does serve Master Salpinx (link- see bottom of the page), so her inability to make the great changes she could may be due to his chaoticness too. With the use of her scepter, Bhleh can be even treated as an actual noble at times, which can frustrate those who have been trusting of her. They grudgingly look for a replacement, and her continuing 'we're looking into it' refrains, excuses, and readiness to only send strongly worded missives do not help.
- Amal Weik (Amelia Victory): With violet hair, in her, one can see the aspects of Eternal Rebirth, Banishing Darkness, and Dreams. She's fanatical and motivating, pretty and petite, ready to nudge one in the right direction, but has powerful enemies, likely minions of NgWhi. With the small flag she often carries, Amal Weik can take on the role of a folk hero(ine), motivating men to help to save their people from destruction, and have many children then- dying in her arms in either case, fulfilling their dreams. However it unfolds, she shows how things may be darkest before the dawn, and one should not walk away.
- Eis (Fury): Having saffron-colored hair, she brings Enlightenment & Focus, being brilliant, sensual, intellectual, attractive, and thoughtful. Nevertheless, Eis is prone to headaches and rage at times, perhaps due to others not fitting the right way, leading her to challenge goodly folk. Larger herself, but endowed and skilled with the delicate use of her wand, whether for magic or otherwise, she can also at times be as a wizard(ess) in the knowing of Light. Such brightness can only be tarnished by her habit of messiness and incongruity, though her eloquence and bard-inspired mouthed words can more than make up for it.
- Hweh (Windy): An incorrigible redhead, she espouses Being Dutiful & Independence, along with scribing her enticing scrolls. Both formal and practical, Hweh's stout beauty belies a profound Intuition and Empathy that may engender overwhelming pleasure arising in one's heart, whether via her touch that's near or afar, drawn upon captivating psychic winds, that if so affected, one might forever be hers. What is more, she may become a full seeress thanks to the rod she carries. Still, without storms or great gusts in the area, she is prone to busyness and being hard-hearted, which can cause the opposite effect. For best results, it may be wisest to contact her around dawn, for which she is nearly always up before, ready to relate her insightful tales.
- Medhu Sterderhego (Honey Strawberry): With strawberry-colored hair, she embodies Dancing & Sweetness with her boundless sensuality and mirth. Well-rounded and shapely, her comeliness can only be outdone by the soft 'coo' sounds she makes, juiciness when well-squeezed, and timely quips. On the other hand, Medhu does have trouble getting around, a strange accent, and difficulty remaining awake- a deep counter to her otherwise vivacious, easily loving manner. Her familiar (a dog) does allow her to take on the role of a hedge witch if need be, granting her a method to pass the time and ease some of her ailments with her many crafts, providing more implements yet. All help in her siren song.
